21 Riflessioni è un’opera costituita da 21 prose scritte su un lungo rotolo di carta giapponese.
I testi sono disposti a sinistra in italiano e a destra in giapponese, e 21 aperture ad arco emergono nella penombra del rotolo, illuminandosi come finestre che filtrano la luce, conferendo all’opera profondità e senso di spazio.
Queste 21 prose sono state selezionate dal progetto a lungo termine dell’artista intitolato Madobe no Sanbun (Pensieri sparsi alla finestra), una raccolta che include poesie, prose e piccoli frammenti di vita quotidiana,
tra cui ricordi personali della madre e altre esperienze intime. In particolare,
quest’opera trae origine da un episodio legato alla vista dalla finestra della madre dell’artista:
per lei rappresentava un epilogo, mentre per l’artista è diventato un prologo per la serie delle finestre.
La superficie della carta, inizialmente coperta dal grigio della matita,
è stata cancellata con la gomma fino a far emergere il bianco della carta, delineando così le forme ad arco.
I testi, distribuiti lungo il rotolo, guidano lo sguardo e creano un percorso visivo.
Inoltre, dalle casse sonore poste ai lati, risuonano le voci dell’artista con effetto eco,
che avvolgono lo spazio e conducono lo spettatore all’interno del labirinto del rotolo.
La combinazione di percezione visiva e uditiva permette allo spettatore di sperimentare non solo le parole,
ma anche l’espansione dello spazio stesso.
Tre alberi bianchi sono presenti nel rotolo:
simboleggiano le radici rappresentate dalle prose originarie e
i rami che si diramano verso le altre opere universali dell’artista sul tema delle finestre.
Il numero 21 è significativo: indica le date di nascita dell’artista, della madre,
del nonno e della nipote, e appartiene alla sequenza di Fibonacci, richiamando misteri dell’universo e della vita.
21 Riflessioni si situa tra memoria personale e simbolismo universale.
Attraverso gli archi, i testi e gli alberi bianchi, lo spettatore percepisce le radici della memoria dell’artista e i suoi sviluppi,
sovrapponendo i propri ricordi e sensazioni.
Lungo il percorso del rotolo, si vive un’esperienza contemplativa
della continuità e della frammentarietà della memoria, della luce e del tempo.
《21 Riflessioni》 は、長い和紙の巻物に記された21篇の散文から成る作品で、
左側にイタリア語、右側に日本語のテキストが配置されています。
数字の 21 は特別な意味を持ち、作家本人、母、祖父、そして姪の誕生日に共通する数字であり、
同時にフィボナッチ数列にも属していることから、生命や宇宙に潜む秩序を象徴しています。
これらの散文は、長期的プロジェクト《窓辺の散文》から選ばれたもので、詩や断片的な文章、日々の記憶、
母にまつわる個人的なエピソードなど、親密な思索の集積です。
作品は特に、母が見ていた窓の風景から着想を得ています。
それは母にとっては最期の風景:エピローグでしたが、作家にとっては「窓のシリーズ」を始める始点:プロローグとなりました。
巻物には、薄闇の中に浮かび上がるように21のアーチ状の開口部が点在し、
窓のように光を取り込みながら、言葉と空間に奥行きを生み出しています。
巻物の鑑賞動線には、左右に設置された二つのスピーカーから作家自身のイタリア語と日本語の声が響き、
音と共に観る者を作品の内部へと導きます。
アーチ、言葉、そして声によって構成された《21 Riflessioni》は、個人的な記憶と普遍的な象徴性が交差する場となり、
鑑賞者それぞれが自身の感覚や記憶を重ね合わせながら、「残るもの」と「消えていくもの」の狭間にある時間を体験する作品です。
21 Reflections is a work composed of twenty-one prose texts written on a long roll of Japanese paper.
The texts appear in Italian on the left and in Japanese on the right,
while twenty-one arched openings emerge from the dimness of the roll,
glowing like windows that filter light and give the work a sense of depth and spatial breath.
These twenty-one prose pieces are selected from the artist’s long-term project Madobe no Sanbun (“Scattered Reflections by the Window”),
a collection that includes poems, prose, and small fragments of daily life
—among them intimate memories of the artist’s mother and other personal experiences.
This particular work originates from an episode connected to the view from the mother’s window:
for her, it marked an epilogue, while for the artist it became a prologue to the entire series of windows.
Distributed along the roll, the texts guide the viewer’s gaze and create a visual path.
From two loudspeakers positioned on either side, the artist’s voice resounds with a gentle echo,
enveloping the space and drawing the viewer into the labyrinth of the roll.
The interplay of visual and auditory perception allows the audience to experience not only
the written words but the expansion of space itself.
Three white trees appear within the roll:
they symbolize the roots represented by the original prose and the branches reaching toward the artist’s other,
more universal works on the theme of windows.
The number twenty-one carries particular significance:
it corresponds to the birth dates of the artist, the mother, the grandfather, and the niece,
and it also belongs to the Fibonacci sequence—evoking the mysteries of the universe and of life.
21 Reflections exists at the intersection of personal memory and universal symbolism.
Through the arches, the texts, and the white trees,
the viewer perceives both the roots of the artist’s memory and its unfolding,
overlaying their own recollections and sensations.
Walking along the roll becomes a contemplative experience of continuity and fragmentation
—of memory, light, and time.
